What is PV Direct-Driven Technology
PV direct‑driven technology DC‑couples solar panels to a heat pump so the compressor and fans run directly on solar DC—without first converting DC to AC through a grid‑tie inverter. By removing this conversion stage, the system shortens the energy path, cuts conversion losses, and simplifies balance‑of‑system components. The result is higher overall efficiency and faster response to changing solar conditions, while still delivering reliable heating, cooling and domestic hot water (DHW).
Unlike conventional PV+inverter+AC heat pump setups, a PV direct‑driven heat pump integrates Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT) to continuously operate the PV array at its optimal voltage/current, maximizing solar harvest throughout the day. In practice, the system can be used on its own in a solar‑optimized setup and can also work in hybrid scenarios with the grid or batteries to maintain comfort at night and during cloudy weather.
What is MPPT function
MPPT is a control method that continually adjusts PV array voltage and current so the panels operate at their maximum power point under changing sunlight and temperature. Instead of holding a fixed setpoint, the controller “hunts” for the sweet spot where the array delivers the most watts—unlocking higher solar harvest from the same panels.
With MPPT, the system supplies a stable, optimized DC feed to the compressor and fans, smoothing power swings as clouds pass and keeping performance high throughout the day. The result is more self-consumption, fewer conversion losses, and better real-world efficiency—translating into lower energy bills, steadier comfort, and reduced wear from unnecessary cycling.

Advantages
Energy Saving
PV DC powers the heat pump directly, removing the inverter stage to cut losses and boost efficiency.
High Efficiency
Built‑in MPPT keeps the PV array at its maximum power point, improving solar harvest and increasing direct‑use efficiency.
Eco-Friendly
R290/R32 low‑GWP refrigerants deliver high heating efficiency while significantly lowering greenhouse‑gas impact.
Cost Saving
Solar‑first operation increases self‑consumption, reduces grid purchases and peak‑time tariffs—lower bills and faster payback.
FAQ
On the PV‑to‑compressor path, no grid‑tie AC inverter is needed, reducing DC‑to‑AC losses; grid/storage coupling still uses appropriate power electronics.
